Testing for the High School Equivalency Diploma

Who can take the test?

  • Anyone living in Indiana for a minimum of 30 days before taking the test.

  • Those who have not already earned a diploma from an accredited high school in the United States.

  • Students who are at least 16 years of age.

 

How much does the test cost?

  • Testing costs are $95 or less, which includes all of the tests, test scoring, transcripts and diploma.

  • Anyone enrolled in our programs can have the test fee covered through the end of 2020, provided the instructor has determined they are sufficiently prepared.

 

What is the HSED Test like?

  • The High School Equivalency Diploma in Indiana is called the TASC (Test of Adult Secondary Completion).

  • There are 5 sub-tests, and they may be taken one at a time.

  • Each subject area has different time limits:

    • Math - 115 min., 46 questions 

    • Social Studies - 90 min., 35 questions

    • Science - 90 min., 34 questions

    • Reading & Writing -150 min., 46 questions

  • Once you take the first sub-test, you have 60 days to complete all 5 sub-tests.

  • You may retake sub-tests up to 3 times without a waiting period.

There are testing centers all over the state, and your teacher will help you find the center closest to you. Here are some of the options:
