- Success Stories ArlloH | RvR 2025
Discover RVR's achievements through inspiring Success Stories of individuals who have risen to fortune, acclaim, or remarkable accomplishments. More Success Stories Arllo Harrison Arllo Harrison joined the JAG program as a quiet and reserved sophomore. She struggled with shyness, a fear of public speaking, and lacked confidence in herself. But everything began to change when she entered the supportive, trauma-informed, and inclusive environment of JAG. With constant encouragement from her JAG Specialist and peers, Arllo slowly started to open up. She began participating in class discussions, took on small leadership roles within her JAG career association, and gradually pushed herself outside her comfort zone. The real turning point came when Arllo decided to compete in the Career Presentation event at the Career Development Conference. Despite her fears, she delivered a strong presentation—and won first place. That win sent her to the state competition, and eventually, to the National Career Development Conference, where she met peers and professionals from across the country. Arllo’s journey is a powerful example of what can happen when students feel safe, supported, and encouraged. Once filled with self-doubt, she is now a confident speaker and emerging leader. Thanks to JAG, Arllo has discovered her voice, her confidence, and her ability to succeed. She now faces the future with courage and pride. My Success Story

More Success Stories Wilder Oswaldo “My name is Wilder Oswaldo, a young immigrant. I came to this country knowing nothing and without any horizon, eager to learn. To overcome, to get ahead, only that there was a problem with the language until the day I arrived, I met an excellent English teacher, my current one, Tracey Montgomery, apart from being an excellent teacher, she is a super beautiful human being with the desire to teach and improve the destiny of her students. With these words, I express how I feel today and say we achieved it, my classmates together with our teacher, God bless always.” Because of his enrollment in his English class, Wilder’s vision difficulties became very apparent. Wilder worked with his family, his teacher, and his doctors to gain access to magnified vision glasses and other special equipment. With this technology, he now has increased his capacity to gain knowledge and learn even faster for a more positive and improved outcome is life and learning. My Success Story

- Success Stories Richard S. | RvR 2025
Discover RVR's achievements through inspiring Success Stories of individuals who have risen to fortune, acclaim, or remarkable accomplishments. More Success Stories Richard (Rick) Stokes Every day, River Valley Resources HR Manager Lisa Farris walks to work. Along the way, she often saw Richard, a 66-year-old man facing enormous challenges—physical limitations, a recent criminal charge, and the uphill battle of finding a job. One day, Lisa stopped and talked with him. That conversation changed everything. As they walked together, Richard shared his story and his determination to keep going despite the obstacles. Lisa, moved by his perseverance, told him about RVR’s new Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), which helps older adults re-enter the workforce. Richard didn’t hesitate—he called immediately. Not long after, RVR needed a janitor for the Clearinghouse. Through SCSEP, Richard was trained and hired. Today, “Rick,” as we now call him, works every day with pride, keeping the building spotless and welcoming. Tenants constantly notice the difference—and so do we. Rick’s journey has been anything but easy, but his story proves that second chances are real. With Lisa’s compassion and Rick’s determination, a chance encounter on the sidewalk became a powerful reminder: no matter how tough the road, hope and hard work can lead to something extraordinary.
