“The SIRRP partners, through the Leadership Learning Lab, are affecting southeastern Indiana’s crucial challenges of change and innovation in a groundbreaking manner by providing mechanisms and tools for the diverse participants to have key learning conversations in their areas and beyond. Southeastern Indiana will never be the same and the residents touched will be “leaders for life.”

“L3 has been a great experience that has not only helped me grow in my career but has also helped me grow as a person. I have learned how people from surrounding counties in our state share the same concerns and want the same things to help their communities grow and prosper. During these sessions I have seen how future and present community leaders can work together as a team to make their goals become reality.”

RVR Advantage for Community Partners backnext

Through a grant from the Indiana Rural Development Council, RVR has led the development of the Southeastern Indiana Rural Regional Partnership to build leadership and partnership in 12 Indiana counties (Dearborn, Decatur, Fayette, Franklin, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Rush, Scott, Switzerland, Union).

A diverse group of individuals, ages 16 to 69, has been charged with redefining leadership and community, beginning with a series of Leadership Learning Labs. L3 presenters include nationally known leadership development professionals.

RVR was asked to submit the Leadership Learning Lab as a “best practice” to the Rural Indiana Strategy for Excellence, also known as RISE 2020.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman, who is very supportive of rural development, has met with RVR staff for updates on the Southeastern rural partnership and L3 progress.
