The biggest barrier facing Stacy (top photo) when she began working with RVR staff was her lack of self-confidence. She’d not worked in several years. She didn’t know what type of job she should seek. With help from her RVR IMPACT case manager, she participated in career exploration, job-seeking and other skills workshops.

She also got the chance to get some real "work experience," before she eventually landed a full time position with her community’s daily newspaper. Said the publisher of the paper: "She’s become self-confident, shows excellent problem-solving abilities, and has the motivation to succeed. She’s proven to be a valuable employee!"

All RVR programs are aimed at helping individuals become self-sufficient and contributing members of their communities. Some of our program participants are dislocated workers. Some are individuals with disabilities. Some are recipients of TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) or Food Stamps. Some are parents who have had trouble making child support payments.

We work closely with our program participants to help them address issues and barriers that have hindered their ability to be good parents or good workers. They learn to solve problems and make decisions, to set and follow through on priorities, to deal with issues before they multiply or grow into insurmountable obstacles.

As an employer, you’ll get an untapped labor pool. For instance, many dislocated workers have not even been in the labor pool for a long time. Their company has closed its doors or downsized. They are ready to work and want to work.

Sometimes individuals may need a little extra help in finding the right job. With some in-depth counseling and assessment, some career exploration, some short term job readiness or vocational training, they become more employable and are ready to be matched with your job openings.

All of these are answers to your "turnover problem." Contact local offices.
