RVR was honored with the "Outstanding Organization in Support of Women and Work" award at the 2005 Indiana Women & Work Conference. Activities cited as reasons for the award included formation of the RVR Women's Bureau, established in 1993, and RVR's developing, organizing, and implementing programs for women about to enter nontraditional training or placement in nontraditional jobs. |

RVR has taken a lead role in developing nontraditional training programs for women.
We formed the RVR Women's Bureau as part of our commitment to ensure that women in our programs do not find themselves limited to traditional gender roles as they prepare for careers that will enable them to become self-sufficient.
One such project was called WINNERS: Women in Nontraditional Niches Earn Respectable Salaries. We spent several intense weeks preparing women for training in the machine trades. The result? Women succeeding in jobs that are in demand!
