Jobs for Individuals with Disabilities backnext

RVR’s Project with Industry grant from the U.S. Dept. of Education focuses on employment services to individuals with disabilities in 12 Indiana counties. The project includes a Business Advisory Council, formed to identify hiring and training needs so that RVR staff knows how to direct their efforts helping people toward job placement. The BAC includes representatives of business and industry, as well as others from the community.

MORE RVR SERVICES

RVR provides employment services to persons with disabilities through two other programs.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION REFERRALS

A person who receives services from Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services has the opportunity to be referred to RVR for assistance in finding and keeping a job. RVR helps with resume preparation, interviewing skills, job coaching, job development and job retention to ensure that each person experiences success upon entering or re-entering the workforce.

TICKET-TO-WORK

As an Employment Network (EN) with the Ticket-to-Work program, RVR helps Social Security beneficiaries gain employment. Once their ticket is assigned to RVR, individuals receive information and assistance in securing employment in their area of interest. RVR can also help coordinate benefits planning services so that individuals will be able to make informed decisions about employment.

IMPROVING ACCESS

RVR and its partners improved access to WorkOne Services for people with disabilities.

Assistive technology and adaptive equipment were installed in five WorkOne Centers and Express sites. These improvements are part of ongoing efforts to provide universal access to all WorkOne services and programs and were made possible by a Department of Labor grant.

Materials were produced that encourage businesses in the region to meet their hiring needs by employing workers with disabilities. These materials have been distributed to area employers.
